What to expect

 

Canyoneer Level 1-2-3 (CA123) is an 11-day course, 3 days pre-learning/8 days practical, that is designed to teach the trainee to progress independently in a moderate risk canyon during a non-professional tour. This highly intensive course is regarded around the world as being one of the best introductory to canyoning courses, and it is also a prerequisite to any professional-level courses offered by ICOpro.

Objectives

The program allows you to organize canyoning excursions and to maneuver with technical skills within, up-to moderate risk canyons. Use and employ technical rigging techniques, ascending progression, passing knots, conversations, rescue techniques, rope cutting, rescue management, horizontal and vertical progression, white water canyoning management, hydrology, managing a team, group and personal equipment are just some of the skills taught on this course. The course maximum number is 6 trainees. You will become a member of ICOpro with great skills to become independent in moderate risk canyons anywhere in the world.

Pre-requisities

Accessible to anyone who has reached the age of majority in his/her country of origin. Be in good mental and physical condition. Swimming: 50m and running 100m.

Manual

All participants will receive a 500+ page pictorial training manual at the start of the course. You will also receive you canyoner card, cap, t-shirts, stickers and offers for discount on equipment and canyoning brands.

Accommodation
Accommodation during the course is additional to the course fee. You are responsible for organising your own accommodation during the course, but we are happy to help.

We have a 12 bed bunkhouse you can use if it is available. The cost will be £20 per night. There are also other accommodation options around the Dunked or Pitlochry area, if you need additional information about places to stay during the course please ask.

Equipment:
The Canyoning Company, as the course organizer, will provide all the necessary equipment for the course. This includes wetsuit, boots, helmet, harness, and other technical equipment. You are welcome to bring some of your own equipment, but this must be inspected prior to use during the course, and it must be in congruence with ICOpro standards and curriculum. You can contact us directly with any equipment questions.

Equipment provided to you during the course will be available for purchase and a very good discounted rate.

 

Flights and Transfers

If your are travelling from outside Scotland to attend this course. We offer a free transfer service from any local train station and from Edinburgh and Glasgow airport. Please ensure you arrive the day before the course, as to be relaxed and ready for the start of the course.
